A Victorian amboyna and ebonised card table in the Aesthetic Movement style, circa 1870–1890, raised on castors. The hinged top, with a floral-patterned impressed ebony border and brass moulded edge, revolves to unfold on its base and reveal a blue velvet playing surface. The feet are joined by a turned stretcher and finished with inlay, with brass mouldings throughout the piece.
The Aesthetic Movement (circa 1860–1900) emphasised beauty and refined design over purely functional form, often incorporating exotic woods, bold contrasts, and intricate decorative motifs.
