Our Story

Knight Fine Antiques & Collectables is a family-run business specialising in fine and luxury antiques, with a focus on exceptional furniture and objects from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Founded in 2024 by brothers Harry and Arthur Knight, the business was built from the ground up. Although we grew up around the antiques trade through our father, we were not originally working within it.

At the ages of 21 and 23, we made the decision to enter the trade ourselves, working alongside our father, Gary Knight, a restorer with over 45 years of experience. This marked the starting point of the business and the direction we continue to build on today.

We began with just a small number of pieces, reinvesting everything back into the business and steadily improving the quality of what we handled. Two years on, we have grown significantly, progressing to work with increasingly important examples, including pieces from some of the top makers in the last few hundred years such as François Linke & Edward Holmes Baldock, alongside other notable cabinetmakers and workshops.

A Focus on Learning, Research & Progress

From the outset, our approach has been simple, focus on quality, continue learning, and improve with every piece.

Everything we handle is researched in detail. Each piece that passes through us, whether being restored or prepared, often reveals new details. These can range from construction methods and materials to signatures, workshop practices, and collaborations, all of which deepen our understanding.

This has been a continual learning process and remains central to how we operate. We believe these observations are important to document and share, contributing to a broader and more accurate understanding of the makers and their work.

This has naturally led to the creation of The Knight Makers Archive, where we document not only established knowledge, but also our own findings from pieces we have handled. It is an evolving body of work, built over time, with the aim of contributing to a wider understanding of antique makers and their work.

Restoration is a key part of what we do.

Working closely with our father, Gary Knight, we carefully prepare each piece to ensure it is presented at its best. With over 45 years of experience, his skill allows us to work across a wide range of furniture, from pieces requiring minimal attention to those needing more considered work, always with sensitivity to the original craftsmanship.

Preserving Originality

Our approach is focused on preserving originality, respecting how each piece was made, and ensuring it remains true to its period while being ready to be lived with. Many of the pieces we handle have already endured centuries of use, changes in ownership, and periods of history including the World Wars, yet still remain today. Our role is to ensure they continue to be preserved and appreciated for centuries to come.

Where We Are Today

Today, we work with collectors, designers, and private clients worldwide, supplying pieces across the UK, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

We are members of the Furniture History Society and present our pieces on leading global platforms such as 1stDibs, alongside established international dealers.

As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same, to handle exceptional pieces, contribute to the finest interiors and collections, and deepen our understanding of the makers and works we specialise in, documenting their history along the way.
