A stunning exhibition-quality softwood display cabinet from the Japanese Meiji Period (1868–1912). Beautifully carved throughout, it features blue panels inlaid with ivory and mother-of-pearl depicting delicate scenes of flowers and birds. The cabinet is crowned with a finely detailed carved pediment centred with a bird among flowers, and includes an ornate bridge shelf linking the upper and lower sections.
It offers two sets of sliding cupboards, two hinged cupboards, and three drawers — each adorned with unique ivory and mother-of-pearl inlaid panels. Standing proudly on an intricately carved base, this exceptional piece is perfect for displaying treasured items or as a distinctive bookcase in any home.
This beautiful large cabinet can be dismantled. The three carved top pediments are dowelled and lift off, while the main cabinet structure sits on a carved base, secured with screws for stability.
