A Victorian amboyna and ebonised two-tier dumbwaiter table in the Aesthetic Movement style, circa 1870–1890. The rectangular tiers are edged in brass, with the upper tier finished with a protective glass top. The gilt-decorated supports are united by an ebonised and gilt stretcher, the whole raised on porcelain castors.
The Aesthetic Movement (circa 1860–1900) emphasised beauty and refined design over purely functional form, often incorporating exotic woods, strong contrasts, and richly decorative detail.
Well suited for use as a side or occasional table, for the display of decorative objects, or as an elegant serving piece within a sitting or dining room.
