A large late Victorian golden oak open bookcase in the Aesthetic Movement style, dating to around the 1890s. The bookcase features four adjustable shelves, each lined beneath with brown leather tooling decorated with an elegant gilt patterned design.
The leather tooling not only adds a refined decorative touch but was also thoughtfully designed to prevent dust from settling on the tops of books, a hallmark of quality Victorian craftsmanship. The top corners display finely carved Aesthetic-style motifs, while both the base and top are bevelled, lending further elegance and structure to the piece.
A superb example of late 19th-century design, combining utility and artistry — ideal for a study, library, or living interior.
