An antique George II mahogany oval drop leaf dining table (1727–1760), with a hinged oval top and shaped apron. The table is fitted with a drawer to one end, currently with a plain Georgian brass handle. There is evidence that the drawer originally had a drop handle, which has been replaced at a later date. The drawer is oak lined.
The table stands on cabriole legs terminating in pointed pad feet, with a concave shaping to the rear of each foot.
The drop leaf design allows the table to be compact when closed and extended for dining or occasional use when the leaves are raised, making it a versatile and practical 18th century piece suitable for use as a dining table, occasional table, or centre table.
