An antique Victorian rectangular gilt overmantel wall mirror by S. T. Townshend, carver, gilder, and looking-glass manufacturer of Norwich. The mirror retains part of its original trade label to the reverse, reading:

S. T. Townshend, Carver, Gilder and Frame Manufacturer, 18 Charing Cross, although the label is partially missing.

The mirror has a traditional Victorian overmantel form, with a rectangular plate set within a gilt frame. The lower corners are carved with decorative detail, adding to the character of the frame. The mirror is fitted with mounting brackets to each side, allowing it to be securely fixed to the wall.

Suitable for placement above a fireplace, console, or as a wall mirror in a hallway or reception room.
