An antique Georgian mahogany bureau, dating to the early George III period (circa 1760–1770), fitted with 4 drawers with brass handles and standing on later bracket feet.

The fall-front writing slope opens to reveal a green leather writing surface and a well-fitted interior, comprising pigeon holes, small drawers, and a central cupboard door, typical of mid-18th century bureau design.

A particularly interesting feature is that the underside of one drawer is lined with original Georgian paper, repurposed from an 18th century handwritten legal deed referencing Wandsworth in south-west London. This is a charming and authentic detail often found in period furniture, where cabinetmakers reused available paper within construction. It may relate to the original owner or simply material used within the workshop, offering a fascinating historical connection.

The bureau is both practical and decorative, functioning as a useful writing desk when open, while also providing excellent storage when closed, making it well suited to a range of interiors.
