Antique French Tulipwood & Rosewood Louis XV Style Marquetry Commode

An early 20th-century Louis XV style commode, circa 1910. The serpentine front is veneered in tulipwood and rosewood, with floral marquetry inlaid across the drawer fronts. The two drawers are oak-lined, showing good-quality construction.

The sides are quarter-veneered in tulipwood, bordered in rosewood, with a central panel of floral marquetry, giving the commode a consistent and well-finished appearance from all angles.

The piece is fitted with brass handles, brass escutcheons, and further brass mounts running down the front toward the legs. These mounts feature subtle floral motifs, adding a light Art Nouveau influence while maintaining the Louis XV style.

The commode is topped with a nice thick slab of Brêche Violette marble, an Italian marble known for its attractive variation in colour. The marble follows the serpentine shape and has a smooth bevelled edge.

This commode is also an ex film prop, meaning it may have appeared in one of your favourite films or television series.

A well-made decorative piece from the early 1900s, suitable for both classic and modern interiors.
