An antique large French Provincial walnut commode, dating from the second half of the 19th century (circa 1850–1900), with a mahogany crossbanded top above four drawers.
The upper frieze drawer is fitted with a lock and opens using the key, while the three larger lower drawers are fitted with brass handles. The commode reflects the practical and understated character associated with French provincial furniture, produced in the regional workshops and countryside of France rather than the major Parisian makers.
The commode has been restored and is ready for use, with historic signs of woodworm that have been professionally treated.
A practical storage piece suitable for a range of interiors.
